During his last visit to Venezuela, the agreement previously proposed following meeting with President Nicolás Maduro and opposition representatives, must be presented as a unilateral declaration of the State before the security commission to guarantee the security of all parties involved.

After that agreement, according to Petro, who has been intervening as a mediator since taking office to address the crisis in Venezuela, “all economic blockades once morest the Venezuelan people should be lifted.”

Last week, Venezuela resumed talks with the United States following several months of back-and-forth, with the upcoming presidential elections on July 28 in the Caribbean country as a backdrop.
