Petro presents nine proposals to start debate on possible Constituent Assembly

This Thursday, the Colombian president, Gustavo Petropresented nine points that he believes should be considered in the discussion on the possible convening of a Constituent Assembly. This idea has been on the mind of his Government for several months.

“First of all, a constituent assembly is the constituent power and the national agreement on the issues,” Petro said on his X account.

Proposals before a Constituent Assembly

Petro proposes starting with the immediate guarantee of the universal right to education, health and pensions, followed by a new territorial order.

The President proposes opening a debate on the economic and social progress of marginalised regions, and ultimately, the restructuring of agriculture.
