Petro prepares his first speech before the UN General Assembly, what would be the topics of his speech?

President Gustavo Petro prepares his first intervention before the United Nations General Assemblythe annual event that brings together all states to address the global agenda.

The Petro’s speech is scheduled for Wednesday 21 of September and the president will be the fifth to make his speech among the dozens of heads of state and ministers who speak in plenary.

It will even be the first time that a Colombian president is among the first to intervene in the assembly which takes place in New York, United States, and which calls for a whole week’s agenda.

Petro’s interventions, so far in his mandate, have focused on peace, reconsider the fight once morest drugs and the regularization of substances illegal activities that supply the coffers of drug trafficking.

Those themes might be in the repertoire of lines you sketch in your intervention at the UNan assembly in which each country has a limited time to present the message they seek to give to the world.

A day before Petro’s speech, on Tuesday, September 20, the debates will begin in which the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, hopes to put the food crisis as the main topic.

Guterres assured that hunger must be the central “tragic theme” of the meetings of international leaders because “The threat of famine has to put us all into action.”

Precisely, this issue has also occupied the agenda of the House of Nariño with the arrival of the government of “change”, so that Petro might find a common line with the problems that the UN wants to put on the global agenda.
