The tricolor club, with Tomás Faria at the helm, clarifies that former athletes who have provided technical and administrative services will have access to the retirement pension. Some athletes would like the event to last longer, but Catetão’s financial condition does not allow it.
The management of Petro de Luanda highlighted to this newspaper that the retirement allowance announced by president Tomás Faria will not include all former practitioners who passed through the club. The tricolor group, founded in 1980, made a point of clarifying that the retirement allowance is only intended for athletes who, following the end of their career, held administrative, coaching, masseuse and wardrobe roles. Furthermore, the Tricolor team mentioned that former players who currently hold administrative positions at the club will also benefit from this package as soon as they retire.
Following this, the oil group indicated that former athletes who are in retirement will begin to receive subsidies without the need to have contributed while they were active. However, the gesture of the tricolor emblem, under the leadership of Tomás Faria, has been “quite praised” by fans and club members, but also criticized by others. Former athletes from different sports interviewed by this newspaper did not welcome this measure, considering that the management of the Tricolor club did not have an inclusive stance.
In this sense, the former practitioners understand that Tomás Faria’s squad should include all former practitioners who passed through the club, since many live in precarious situations. This time, the management of the tricolor formation regrets the situation, but points out that such a measure will not be put into action due to the economic and financial reality that the country has been going through. This newspaper knows that the management of the oil emblem has been working hard to create conditions for the implementation of this instrument that aims to improve the social conditions of former employees of the club.
Remember that the oil emblem operates twelve sports, with football being the most titled in Angola, with sixteen Girabola titles. On January 14th, the tricolor club, which has seen great names in Angolan football such as Abel Campos, Nejó, Ralf, Avelino, Felito, Chico Dinis, Bodunha, Renato, Gilberto, Chinho (in memory) and others, celebrated 44 years since its foundation.
