Petro denies that Colombia will require a valid passport for Venezuelans

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, He denied the possibility that his government would apply measures once morest Venezuelansrequiring a valid passport for those wishing to enter the country.

“This is not true. My government will not require passports from Venezuelan migrants”the president explained.

His statement came following Snail News leaked the draft of a document that was allegedly being prepared by the Colombian Foreign Ministry. The document made official the Repeal of resolution 2231which extends the validity of expired Venezuelan passports to enter national territory.

The measure launched in June 2021 was executed to “to facilitate entry, transit, stay and exit from Colombian territory, and as an identification document, for Venezuelan nationals who carry an expired passport”.
