Milestone birthday for Petar Bručić and Heri Weber turns 68!
In 1982 he came from Dinamo Zagreb to Hütteldorf and that as a newly crowned Yugoslav champion. The veteran ran his lungs out for five seasons for green and white and won six titles, twice the championship and four times the ÖFB Cup! We’re talking regarding Petar Bručić, who will be celebrating his 70th birthday on June 28!
So “Pero” wrote history and in more ways than one. Actually, he might have lifted the championship plate into the Hütteldorfer sky three times, but in 1986 he (innocently) prevented this himself. He was used in a 3-0 home win once morest LASK, although he should have served a yellow card suspension. But the Rapid management at the time had overlooked this and so the game was penalized with 0:3. Despite an unbelievable 101 goals scored, the city rivals were at the top and the team then coached by Vlatko Marković had to settle for second place in the championship. Without this faux pas, Bručić & Co would have been champions due to the better goal difference.
The midfield engine, which was extremely strong but also had bad luck a year earlier. Because of a nullity, he saw the second yellow card in the European Cup semi-final second leg once morest Dynamo Moscow and was thus suspended in the final once morest Everton in Rotterdam. Who knows how this match would have turned out with him (and the then injured Antonin Panenka).
Of course, the good memories far outweigh this, “Pero” played 165 competitive games in his five Rapid seasons, in which he also scored seven goals.
SK Rapid warmly congratulates the jubilee, who embodied the Rapid spirit as a player so magnificently, on his 70s – Sretan rođendan, Pero and stay healthy!
