Once once more the back pain put an end to Petra Mede.

She was on sick leave and had to undergo surgery.

– This time it was very, very bad, says Mede in SVT’s “Carina Bergfeldt”.

In the autumn of last year was forced Petra Mede, 54, canceling several missions because of his back pain.

She quit as host of TV4’s “Let’s dance” and canceled several performances of her comedy show.

Now Mede tells us that she was on sick leave and had to have back surgery and was bedridden for nine months.

– This time it was very, very bad, very acute. So I had to set up rub and stump. So I was on sick leave as I had been once before in my life. But that was 30 years ago, says Mede in “Carina Bergfeldt” on SVT.

– This time it was not possible to let it get better on its own, but it ended up being an operation. Now I have had surgery and am fairly well once more.

“Wouldn’t be able to work”

At first it was not obvious that there would be an operation.

– With spines, it is incredibly complex, so I went and got “second opinions”. Some surgeons said let it be, some surgeons said there is nothing to wait for and to operate.

– It was unsustainable and I wouldn’t be able to work. Now I don’t have many years left, so now I really have to be able to work. Then I thought, what a fool, now I’ll take the chance and have surgery. It went the way.

Leading Eurovision with the Hollywood star

Petra Mede had to stay out of the limelight because of the health problems.

But recently the news came that she agreed to lead the Eurovision song contest for the third time. This time she does it together with the Swedish Hollywood star Malin Åkerman45.

– Nephew, I think I’ll be put in my place a bit here, perhaps. Because she will beat me to the punch, not least in star status but also in language, says Petra Mede.

– I’ve always said that I know languages ​​so well, but she’s at least as good. She is completely fluent in French and English.

Eurovision will be held in May 2024 and preparations are in full swing for both Mede and Åkerman.

– We have talked together, we really have. She is such a star and seems to be so calm, says Petra Mede.
