Petersburg will not give up salt during winter street cleaning

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov informedthat the city cannot afford to refuse both anti-icing mixtures and their component – salt. Mr. Beglov reminded that salt is not used in parks and gardens.

He stated this during a direct line with the townspeople. Petersburgers asked the governor a question regarding the quality of anti-icing mixtures, as well as the need for their use.

“Salt is the main component of any anti-icing mixtures. It is applied all over the world, reminded Alexander Beglov. The issue of winter street cleaning is related to the safety of St. Petersburg residents – the city cannot refuse materials once morest ice, Mr. Beglov noted, emphasizing that each batch of anti-icer is checked.

Governor also informedthat in St. Petersburg from January 1, the transition to a new model of cleaning streets and courtyards began.

Petersburgers were perplexed regarding the use of salt already in early December 2022 – so “in advance”. Now road companies often use pure salt, because it works better in these weather conditions, the city authorities commented at the time.
