At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover was presented, which will be assembled at the former Nissan plant, RBC correspondent reports.
As expected, Lada X-Cross 5 is a copy of the Chinese Bestune T77 crossover from FAW. This is a five-door front-wheel drive car, which is equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine and a seven-speed robotic gearbox.
The main difference between the novelty of the Lada brand and the Chinese original can be called the presence of domestic nameplates with a traditional boat in the shape of the letter “B”, inscribed in an oval.
This is not the first example of the assembly of Chinese cars in Russia under a domestic brand. Since the end of 2022, JAC cars under the Moskvich brand have been assembled at the former Renault plant in Moscow. At the same time, AvtoVAZ has repeatedly emphasized that following the launch of production, they will consistently increase the share of domestic parts in their new cars.
Earlier, Autonews.ru reported that the production of Lada cars with automatic transmission in Togliatti might begin this year.
