“It’s no longer possible”: Peter Öfferlbauer, former SP politician and founder of the Junge Liste Pasching, is turning his back on community politics following ten years. The 32-year-old justifies this step with a mix of “private, professional and political” reasons.
The self-employed PR and specialist complains regarding the lack of cooperation in community politics, but at the same time is self-critical. “Through my brash, honest and direct way of doing politics, I sometimes led the Junge Liste into isolation myself. From this perspective, too, a new person at the top makes perfect sense.” Öfferlbauer emphasizes that he always acted according to his ideals; this naivety “cost a lot of substance, broke porcelain and, last but not least, cost the family quality of life.”
In the future, Öfferlbauer wants to be available to the Junge Liste exclusively as a paying and “if you want, also an advisory member”. Marco Glockner will be joining the Pasching local council. The Young List, which ran for the first time in the 2021 elections, holds five mandates there. Who will succeed Öfferlbauer as community board member will be decided in the next few days. Stefanie Öfferlbauer, the wife of the list founder who has now resigned, will remain on the local council.
