Riaz Ahmed said that in the year 2004, the Government of Pakistan sent him to India to participate in an exhibition called ‘Doost Karigar’ in New Delhi, where he received the ‘Seal of Excellence’ award from the United Nations.

He was also honored with the Tagha Imtiaz on March 23 and has received several other awards.

Riyaz Ahmad further said that he taught this centuries-old art to his son as well, but now his son is disappointed and does not want to pass this art to his children due to the lack of attention of the government.

Ajmal Khan, Director of the Department of Culture, says about wax art, “Wax art is not only historical but also a unique art and steps were taken earlier to preserve this art and even now all the historical arts of Peshawar including wax art are preserved.” Various projects are in the pipeline to keep it alive.’

He further said that ‘Peshawar is an Amen city of history and the Archeology Department had provided seating to various artists in Gurghatari Tehsil, but due to the end of that project, all these artists were affected.’

Ajmal Khan told Independent Urdu that very soon all these artists will be gathered on one platform and their works will be exhibited at the government level.
