Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United: Babar’s Dick to Ballboy’s Catch

Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium thanks to the brilliant bowling of Shah Brothers.

Peshawar Zalmi might not win the match despite winning the toss, dismissing the first opener on the first ball of the first over and the second opener on the last ball of the third over.

On the contrary, Islamabad United did not give up despite the early dismissal of both the openers and set a target of 197 runs on the scoreboard due to Shadab Khan’s excellent innings.

But Peshawar Zalmi lost the match in the first six overs. Because in these six overs, Babar Azam was run out following playing a single ball at zero, Saeem Ayub and Mohammad Haris scored one run each and Roman Powell was also dismissed for no runs.

Peshawar Zalmi lost five wickets in the powerplay itself as a result of the brilliant bowling of Shah Berardan namely Naseem Shah and Haneen Shah.

Haneen Shah took two wickets and Naseem Shah took one wicket.

After losing five wickets, it seemed that Peshawar Zalmi would not only lose this match easily but might not even reach the hundred mark.

But it didn’t happen and Aamir Jamal and Paul Walter at the crease started moving towards the target slowly and then aggressively, the pressure was starting to show on Shadab Khan’s face as well.

Aamir Jamal scored 87 runs off just 49 balls with six sixes and eight fours while Paul Walter scored 33 runs which included five fours.

Meanwhile, when these two batsmen were batting, an incident took place outside the boundary which became an interesting story till the end of the match.

It so happened that when Aamir Jamal hit his first six, a ball boy outside the boundary tried to catch it but he failed. In such a situation, Colin Munro, who was fielding there, told him how to catch the right catch while standing there.

From here the match progressed and the matter ended. But following some 30, 40 minutes, Arif Yaqub took a shot on the same side, then Colin Munro and the same ball boy ran towards the ball together. It was a six, but this time the ball boy slid in brilliantly to take the catch as Colin Munro ran over him to save him.

Colin Munro hugged and cheered the ball boy immediately following the challenge, and the ball boy’s face was also full of joy.

Well, this was the story of a beautiful incident that happened during the match. Now let’s talk regarding the batting of Islamabad United.

When Islamabad United opened the batting, Babar Azam’s decision to bowl to Saeem Ayub proved correct as he dismissed Alex Hales on the first ball of his first over and Colin Munro on the last ball of his second over. What’s going on?

After that, Shadab and Agha Salman formed a good partnership and kept the Peshawar Zalmi bowlers under a lot of pressure.

Salman Ali Agha was dismissed for 37 runs but Shadab Khan played an innings of 80 runs off 51 balls with the help of six sixes and four fours. He was declared man of the match for this innings and taking three wickets.
