Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators to reach the play-off stage

Despite Aqeel Hussain’s hat-trick in the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 76 runs and reached the play-off stage.

In the match played in Rawalpindi, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat first and this decision proved wrong.

Peshawar Zalmi took an aggressive approach and scored 46 runs in 3.3 overs thanks to Saeem Ayub who hit 30 runs off 12 balls with 3 sixes but Sohail Khan ended his innings on the same score. Abolished.

Babar Azam stood firm from the other end and combined with Mohammad Haris to take the score to 93 in 8 overs, Haris got out for 20 and Haseebullah for 6, Zalmi’s team had scored 100 runs in 9 overs.

On behalf of Gladiators, Aqeel Hussain took four wickets while Sohail Khan, Hasnain and Abrar Ahmed took one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Gladiators’ openers also gave their team a 46-run start in 4.3 overs, but Saud Shakeel’s innings of 24 runs off 12 balls with 2 sixes came to an end on the same score.

In the next over, Jason Roy, who came from England, also returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs, while Saeem Ayub walked Riley Russo and Khawaja Nafee in the same over, then the Gladiators had lost four for 61 runs.

The entire team of Quetta Gladiators was bowled out for just 120 runs and Peshawar Zalmi reached the play-off stage with a huge victory of 76 runs in the match.
