Revitalized Pump Track in Via Caravaggio Reopens to the Public
“The area for the pump track in via Caravaggio, which had been vandalized, has been arranged, cleaned and opened to the public.”
This announcement came from municipal councilor Cristian Orta and councilors Alessandro D’Alonzo and Loris Mazzioli. They recently assessed the state of the area following a municipal intervention aimed at restoring it.
“The benches had been uprooted, the waste bins had been broken and the pump track system had been damaged. Everything was therefore put in order and Pescara Multiservice was appointed to open and close the area, every day, and also takes care of the cleaning (emptying the bins). Instead, the municipal workers take care of the greenery in that area,”
explained the councilor and councilors.
A Collaborative Effort
The reopening was the result of a collaborative effort involving multiple parties. Pescara Multiservice was tasked with daily opening and closing duties, as well as maintaining cleanliness by regularly emptying the bins. Municipal workers dedicated their efforts to ensuring the greenery surrounding the pump track was well-maintained.
A meeting of the Environment and Parks commission was originally scheduled to take place at the site. However, due to inclement weather, the meeting was relocated to the Municipality building. This provided an opportunity to update all councilors on the process that had led to the area’s reopening. Rup Raffaella Bettoni actively participated in the meeting.
Months prior, Orta, alongside D’Alonzo and Bettoni, had visited the vandalized area to evaluate the extent of the damage and outline a course of action.
A Hub for Recreation and Community
The reopening of the pump track in via Caravaggio is a welcome development for the local community. The facility serves as a hub for recreation and physical activity, allowing residents of all ages to enjoy cycling and skateboarding in a safe and designated environment.
Pump tracks are designed to provide a thrilling and challenging riding experience. Riders use their momentum and body weight to navigate the undulating track, performing jumps, berms, and other maneuvers. These tracks encourage skill development, fitness, and healthy outdoor recreation.
The vandalism that had previously marred the area served as a stark reminder of the importance of respecting public spaces and facilities. The dedication shown by local officials and community members in restoring the pump track underscores the value placed on providing recreational opportunities for all residents.
The reopening of the pump track marks a positive step forward, signifying a commitment to creating vibrant and welcoming spaces where residents can connect with one another and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
