Peruvians want to leave the country at the end of the year

If until August of this year, the activity in the air Transport rose 49.85%, by the end of 2022 it is calculated to exceed sales because the demand for flights by the end of the year it shot up, according to the Peruvian Association of Internal Receptive Tourism Operators (Aportur).

According to the spokesman for this association, Enrique Quiñones, there are many people who have the desire to travel content, following more than two years of the pandemic; therefore ticket sales rose.

The Caribbean and USA are the main destinations for those Peruvians who want to leave the country. Approximately 70,000 people will travel to the first place.

“The last week of the year, regarding 60,000 people traveled to the Caribbean. Now we have more planes and airlines like Sky and Copa with five flights. Latam, in addition, has already recovered its flights. Now it would be 10% or 20% more traveling,” he explained to Management.

Due to demand, prices increased

Because more people want to travel, the sales ticket to the Caribbean rose between 15% and 20%. According to Ricardo Acosta, president of the Peruvian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Apavit), there are more people looking to travel than in 2019 and among their destinations are Punta Cana, Cancun, Varadero, Miami and Spain.

But flights to these destinations They also increased. If we want to go to Punta Cana in New Year’s, the ticket might cost us US$ 1,600 in economy class, “it is double or triple what it cost,” according to an Apavit spokesperson.

Why are airfares soaring?

According to Ricardo Acosta, the price of fuel and the losses of the airlines due to the pandemic and the restrictions at the airports caused them to end up raising their prices; however, this also affected the travel agencies that offer their packages, since the client sees the most expensive ticket and no longer wants services outside their budget.
