While the winners of the international competition at the Viña del Mar Festival were announced, an “intense cold” ran through Lita Pezo’s body. The Peruvian representative, favorite to win the contest, obtained the lowest score. “She was shaking, nervous, excited,” says the artist. After that icy moment, she left the stage calm and grateful because despite not having raised a silver seagull, she fulfilled her main objective: to raise Peru, her native Iquitos, and that girl full of insecurities and questions that she once had. was.

“I have always been clear that nothing is said until the last moment. Everything happens for a reason. “I am sure that God has better things prepared for me, for us,” comments the “Luchadora” interpreter.

In the final gala of the Chilean music contest, Eddy Valenzuela, from Mexico, won with an average of 6.3, with the song “El Maestro”. He took home the silver seagull, 28 thousand dollars, and the chance to sing this Friday, March 1, at the closing of the festival. While the Spanish Enrique Ramil won the award for Best Performer with the song “La Última Vez”. Lita Pezo got 2.7 points and placed third.

“I congratulate my teammates, Eddy, who is a great fighter, hope he is doing very well in every way. I am very grateful to the Chilean public because they gave me their love, affection, kindness, and not only to me, but to all the participants. When they gave the result, everyone expected me to react differently, they told me to wake up. We agree with my team that the score was strange. They wanted to consult to find out what had happened. I told them no, let it just stay there. I mightn’t say if it deserved more points or not. For what,” says Pezo.

The young woman from Iquito, winner of the Peruvian versions of “Yo Soy Kids” (2014) and the latest edition of “La Voz Perú”, clarifies that since this is not the first time she has faced an adverse result in a competition, she receives it with greater serenity and optimism.

“At 24 years old I have experienced super big things that have made me stronger, more mature and aware that everything happens for a reason. I grew and learned too much as a person and artist, to value, to be much more humble and responsible for the good or bad that can happen. I will continue fighting, making an effort, improving because the road is quite long. In my life there is a before and following of this contest,” she highlights following thanking the unconditional support she received from the Creole singer Eva Ayllón, Daniela Darcourt and Ruby Palomino.

“Teacher Eva’s support was incredible. When I got off the stage, she was waiting for me, distraught. I told him to calm down because things happen for a reason. She was going to calm me down and I ended up calming her down (laughs). I also appreciate the beautiful words of Daniela, who went far thanks to a lot of work and effort. She is a fighter,” she emphasizes. “And Rubí did an impeccable job in the contest. This result does not define us. It defines us what we are going to do next, how we get up and what we do to continue in this very difficult music industry,” she highlights.

What’s next artistically for Lita? “My dream is to complete my album with unreleased songs and have a big concert and be able to sing my music, show my message to the world, that we are all fighters in some area of our lives,” she emphasizes.
