A group of Peruvian “shamans” wearing colorful robes tied a doll in the shape of Brazilian star Neymar in their attempt to “neutralize” him, ahead of their country’s match once morest the Seleção in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday.
This group of priests, who believe in communicating with spirits and live in forests, mountains and coastal areas, called on “Taita Inti” (Father Sun) to help Peru in its match once morest five-time World Cup winner Brazil.
“We neutralized Neymar by tying his feet,” said shaman Felix Rondan. “We tied him up so that he would not be in good shape, would not run and play well.”
The shamans held the ritual outside the National Stadium, where they set up a colorful altar with swords, amulets, flags, and pictures of players from both teams.
They had previously taken ayahuasca, a powerful hallucinogenic drink that they say opens the door to the spirit world.
Shaman Walter Alarcón said that this ritual aims to confuse the mind of Neymar, the new player for Al-Hilal Saudi Club, so that he cannot “achieve what he is looking for, which is goals.”
Alarcón expected a draw, saying that the match would be difficult.
