Vienna (OTS) – Awareness of the importance of care is increasing in society. Nevertheless, an important group of carers often remains unseen: the caring relatives – following all, around a million people in Austria. From 25th to 31st The third conference “Perspectives and Potential for Caring Relatives” (free, online via Zoom) will take place in January. The current program is on available.
Nicole Traxler, head of the Two Next inclusion association, which organizes the conference, explains: “The focus this year is on dementia, the ethical side of the relationship between those in need of care and their relatives, young adults with care responsibilities and culturally sensitive care.”
Modular program for individual needs and interests: Five specialist panels and three “Inspirational Lunches”
The program begins on the evening of January 25th with a focus on “Young Adults”; continues on Friday with “Culturally Sensitive Care – Culturally Specific Needs of Caring Relatives.” “Inspirational Lunches” will take place at lunchtime on Monday (29th), Tuesday (30th) and Wednesday (31st). The conference closes on Wednesday with a review of the three-year research project “Innovation network to relieve the burden on caring relatives in Austria”.
Around 20 speakers from scientific institutions, aid organizations, institutions and self-help groups are expected at the online conference, including Prof. Hanna Mayer (Karl Landsteiner University), Katharina Meichenitsch (Ministry of Social Affairs), Birgit Meinhard-Schiebel (IG Pflege), Sabine Hofer-Gruber (Senior Commissioner for the City of Vienna), Anna Parr (Caritas Austria / BAG – Federal Association for Free Welfare), Heidemarie Staflinger (AK OÖ), Martin Nagl-Cupal (University of Vienna), Mihajela Dvorak (Hilfswerk Österreich), Christoph Pammer (Health hub Graz), Teresa Millner-Kurzbauer (Volkshilfe Österreich), Norbert Partl (Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vienna), Sabine Mandl (Berta von Suttner Private University of St. Pölten), Christoph Mandl (WKÖ) as well Brigitte Juraszovich (Health Austria GmbH). Nonno Breuss is moderating once more.
The conference is supported by the ERSTE Foundation and will then be broadcast on Freirad, the Free Radio Innsbruck. It is part of the “Innovation network to relieve the burden on caring relatives in Austria” project. This project is implemented by Two Next inclusion – Association for the promotion of social, digital and financial inclusion, Caritas Pflege, LebensGroß, Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Digital Health and Patient Safety and semanticlabs GmbH. It is funded by the National Foundation for Research, Technology and Development and is carried out as part of the Laura Bassi 4.0 program with the kind support of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs (BMAW).
