Government Announces 2nd Economic Regulation Innovation Plan
Allows for additional chargers in gas stations
It is expected that the number of gas stations where electric vehicle chargers will be installed will increase in the future. There is also a way to generate profits by sharing electric vehicle chargers owned by individuals. In the park, self-driving robots will be able to deliver to users, and the loading capacity of courier trucks will increase by 1 ton.
On the 5th, the government held the second Economic Regulation Innovation Task Force (TF) meeting presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Chu Kyeong-ho at the Government Complex in Seoul and announced plans for economic regulation innovation including these contents. The second economic regulation innovation task is a total of 36 cases.
First, the government is planning to change the separation distance-related standards within gas stations so that additional EV chargers can be installed. It accepted the point that the separation regulation set for internal combustion vehicles made it physically impossible to install electric vehicle chargers.
Privately owned electric vehicle charger sharing service will also be allowed. It is to relax the regulations that enable charging business only when registered as a charging service provider. In this case, individuals can generate profits by entrusting their electric vehicle chargers to a sharing platform operator.
Self-charging stations for hydrogen cars are also permitted, adding fuel cells to buildings and facilities that can be installed in gas stations, and charging and selling electricity produced by renewable energy power generation facilities such as solar power at electric vehicle charging stations.
It was decided to increase the maximum load capacity of the delivery truck from 1.5 tons to 2.5 tons. This measure reflects the trend of increase in parcel traffic, and it is expected that the use of parcel delivery for large items such as furniture and bicycles will increase. Autonomous robots weighing less than 60 kg will be allowed to enter the park. It is expected that park users will be able to use shuttles and delivery services at low cost.
The size of small packages that can be transported by intercity bus will be increased from 40,000 to 60,000, and the total weight will be increased from 20 kg to 30 kg. Corporate taxi drivers will be permitted to work shifts outside of corporate garages, and a road will be opened for business operators to take breathalyzer tests remotely.
In addition, it was decided to support the additional allocation of the amount allowed for new and extended factories by using the amount of unexecuted quantities of the local government’s total factory capacity system. Accordingly, it is reported that Kia will be able to execute an investment of regarding 400 billion won.
The government expects a total of 800 billion won in corporate investment by improving 36 of these regulations. Including the circular economy revitalization plan announced on the same day, the government explained that the total amount of corporate investment would exceed 1.8 trillion won.
