In an effort to grow its relationship with Asian gamers, Xbox dedicated a small segment of its conference, which took place last night, to a J-RPG franchise made by Atlus to critical and gamer acclaim. We are obviously talking regarding Persona, whose opus 3, 4 and 5 will join the Game Pass (and not only!) later! Small subtlety, and not the least, an option might change the game with the public who might be reluctant until then!
Three Persona in Game Pass, PC and PS5 also spoiled
By the end of 2022, players Xbox One et Xbox Series X|S in lack of J-RPG will have the right to a very nice gift. It took 25 years for that to happen, but we’re almost there: the Persona license, through Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 : Golden et Person 5: Royalwill join Microsoft’s subscription service, namely the Xbox Game Pass. For the moment, only the availability of Person 5: Royal is planned: it will be October 21, 2022. The others will have to wait. 2023 as well as more details.
Seconds following the reveal made by Xbox, many wondered if it was an exclusive partnership with the Atlus studio. In the end, this question had to be answered in the negative since today we learned that the PC (via Steam) and the PS5 would also have the right to discover its three nuggets of the J-RPG. However, another question has been raised because there is a detail that has held back a fringe of players vis-à-vis its titles in the past: localization.
The joys of the JRPG in French subtitles!
The lack of translation is sometimes a sensitive point which can discourage some players from trying out a particular game. In the case of Persona 5if its popularity was not to be proven, the implementation of French subtitling in the Royal edition was a real boost, both in terms of reputation and financially. Nevertheless, Persona 3 Portable et Persona 4 : Golden, older, were not entitled to this preferential treatment. Except that…
As confirmed by publisher Koch Media, all three games that will join Game Pass, the Steam platform and the PS5 will indeed have the right to subtitles in French. No more relying on the talents and hard work of Persona community members who have developed patches for missing languages. Without a doubt, Persona 3 Portable et Persona 4 Golden will have the right to a tenfold number of fans!
