Some people may suffer from a dry throat when they have colds and influenza, but the dryness of the throat may persist for a long time even without infection, which indicates the presence of another health problem that requires examination and treatment.

Conditions that cause dry throat

1-Allergies

Allergies are one of the most prominent causes of persistent dry throat, and regarding 30 to 40% of the world’s population is affected by it of all kinds. When a person has seasonal allergies, substances in the environment make the immune system overreact to it. Common triggers for various types of allergies include the following: :

Pollen.

-the dust.

-Pets.

Allergens cause the immune system to release a chemical called histamine, which causes many symptoms, which are as follows:

Dry mouth and throat.

-cough.

– Blocked or runny nose.

Itchy skin, mouth, or eyes.

– Appearance falls red in the body.

2-sleep with the mouth open

If a person sleeps with his mouth open, he may wake up with a dry throat, because when the mouth is left open, the air dries up the saliva that the person produces to maintain the moisture of the mouth, and as a result, the throat and mouth may feel dry when waking up.

3- Dry mouth

Dehydration occurs due to not drinking enough water. When the fluids in the body decrease, the salivary glands produce less saliva, which leads to dry mouth, and then dry throat, so care must be taken to drink an abundant amount of water throughout the day, to avoid this problem.

4-GERD

GERD occurs as a result of stomach acids refluxing back through the esophagus when those acids reach the mouth and throat, causing a feeling of constant dryness, in addition to a number of other annoying symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, heartburn, chest pain, and congestion.

5- Sleep apnea

Sleep apnea is one of the sleep disorders that affects the quality of sleep, and thus causes exposure to many other health problems. It is a disease that makes a person unable to breathe through the nose, due to obstruction of the airways, so he is forced to take his breath during sleep from the mouth.
