To Meetingfrom November 14 to 27, 12 cases of dengue were recorded, once morest 3 cases for the previous fortnight. The number of cases is increasing slightly but remains at a low level. Over the period, the cases are distributed in 8 municipalities located mainly in the West and South of the island: Saint Leu, The Possession, St.Paul, Buffer, Oars, Etang Sale, Saint-Joseph et St Denis.
Dengue continued to circulate during the winter, raising fears of a possible epidemic resumption in the weeks to come, with the arrival of summer and weather conditions favorable to the development of mosquitoes.
Travelers are advised to protect themselves from mosquito bites. Standard vector control measures should be followed :
- Wearing covering clothes.
- Mosquito repellents, containing DEET, on uncovered skin.
- Mosquito net impregnated with insecticide for the siesta and the night.
- People who use sunscreen should apply the repellent 20 minutes following sunscreen.
In order to avoid the dissemination of the dengue virus as much as possible in mainland France, in the face of a sudden onset of fever and joint or muscle pain within 15 days of returning from a trip to a risk zone, it is necessary consult your doctor as soon as possible by reporting your trip.
