Every week, or almost, Perrine Delacour makes remarkable tournament debuts on the LPGA circuit. The level of play is there. It’s the case once more, this time in Ohio, at the Kroger Queen City Championship. Despite two poorly placed double bogeys (at 1 and 18) and a seized up driving (5 fairways affected), Picardy scored a more than correct 69 (7 birdies) to climb into 7th position (-8) following her initial 67 .
“It was a pretty good lap,” comments the Frenchwoman. It really hurts to start with a double and end with a double, but that’s golf. Anything can happen on this course, so I will continue to build my tournament this weekend. This course suits my game quite well, you can make a lot of birdies there. I’m a little upset regarding my two doubles but I’m still in the game. Every week is a new experience and I constantly learn from it. This is what I keep in mind moving forward. »
The break is made in the lead
The Frenchwoman finds herself six points behind Peiyun Chien. The player from Taipei produced an immaculate 64 during the second day while the best card went to Nasa Hataoka (63), the Japanese now pointing alongside Perrine Delacour. For the leader, the break is already made (four shots ahead of a trio of pursuers) but the mass has not yet been said.
A first title on the LPGA circuit is never easy to secure: “I’ve been putting very well for two days,” says Peiyun Chin. I even made an eagle, I’ve been chasing it for a while, it’s incredible. I changed drivers this week and it suits me very well. I also change putters often, but the current one, which I’ve been using for eight weeks, seems to suit me really well. » The player from Taipei apparently has an ideal toolbox. All that remains is to use it wisely until the end of the tournament.
