The Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) considers the 2024 Grand Triumph archery championship in Yogyakarta on 19-20 October and attended by more than 1,000 athletes as an event for Indonesia’s pride.

“This event is clearly proud for Indonesia because apart from being the second largest in Southeast Asia, this Grand Triumph has raised Indonesia’s level internationally, similar to the Vegas Shoot and Lancaster Classic indoor archery events,” said the General Chair of the Perpani Executive Board who is also the 2024 Grand Triumph Steering Committee, Arsjad Rasjid, in his written statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

The event was attended by athletes from various countries, including 12 world-class archery athletes, including world barebow star Raymond “Reggie” Huang, the 2024 Lancaster Classic champion from Canada.

Arsjad said this event was the beginning of Indonesia’s archery progress at the international level.

According to him, Indonesia will encourage World Archery to provide opportunities for Indonesia to hold world events in its own country. This Grand Triumph also involves the Indonesian barebow community so that it is the right moment to align barebow with other archery divisions.

“We want barebow to enter official competitions nationally and internationally,” he said.

The athletes taking part in the championship consisted of 127 athletes Recurve Open 18 m, 120 athletes Compound Open 18 m, 208 athletes Barebow open 25 m, 132 athletes Recurve/National Standard U-15 15 m, 143 athletes Recurve/National Standard U-12 12 m, and 29 Barebow U-12 athletes 10 m.

This event was attended by well-known athletes such as Raymond Huang, Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki, Pattamawadee Yuenprakon, Nutty Maneesombatkul, Kanyavee Maneesombatkul, Woo Teng Ng, Kholidin, North Sumatra Aceh PON champions Prima Wisnu and Ahmad Baasith, and Nurfitriyana Saiman.

“I try to do my best for this event and competing with junior athletes in this event makes me feel honored and happy to be here,” said Raymond Huang. (Z-6)
