THE APPEARANCE of jazz singer Diana Krall in her solo concert entitled Diana Krall Live in Jakarta 2024 at Ciputra Artpreneur, South Jakarta, Saturday (4/5), brought a nostalgic feel thanks to the presentation of a number of songs from legendary jazz singers ranging from Nat King Cole to Frank Sinatra.

After opening the concert with Almost Like Being in Love and All or Nothing at All, Krall sang I’ve Got You Under My Skin, which is one of Frank Sinatra’s signature songs.

His performance was then continued with the song Why Not Take All of Me, which was popularized by Billie Holiday.

After that, a number of legendary jazz songs were presented by the Canadian singer accompanied by piano playing which was played beautifully by his fingers.

In several songs, Krall shows his ability to play the piano solo. Not to be left behind, the accompanying band members also showed off by presenting bass and drum solos which successfully hypnotized the audience.

Some of the songs by legendary jazz singers that Krall performed at his concert this time include Just You, Just Me from Nat King Cole, Jockey Full of Bourbon from Tom Waits, Day In, Day Out from Billie Holiday, Let’s Face the Music and Dance from Irving Berlin , Night & Day from Cole Porter, to Frank Sinatra’s iconic song Fly Me to the Moon.

Not only limited to songs from jazz singers, Krall also performed covers of songs from famous folk singers, namely Queen Jane Approximately, which was popularized by Bob Dylan, and Mr. Soul which was popularized by Neil Young. Of course, both songs are packaged with jazz musical arrangements that are still enjoyable to listen to.

Before performing these legendary songs, on several occasions, Krall introduced the authors to the audience where he admitted that they were musicians he admired.

Not only presenting covers of popular songs from legendary singers, during the show Krall also sang a number of selected songs from his own albums including The Girl in The Other Room, The Look of Love, Love Letters, I Was Doing Alright, and East of the Sun, which is presented to entertain its fans.
