“Ski-Lion” Linus Straßer from TSV 1860 Munich achieved his best result of the season in the night slalom in Schladming. After difficult weeks with failures and missed second runs, he celebrated the third World Cup victory of his career.
Straßer had already presented himself well in the first round, but according to his own statement he was not even completely satisfied. “There would certainly have been a little more, especially on the steep slopes it wasn’t quite smooth,” he said.
Controlled and sovereign
In the second round, Straßer then drove with the necessary mixture of safety and aggressiveness. He brought the round safely to the finish, while the competition in front of him made a mistake. Among others, the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen, who was leading following the first round, was eliminated at the second goal. From fifth place, Straßer wobbled to victory with the sixth best time.
“I tried to do my thing, which I did really well,” said the Munich resident in an interview with BR24 Sport, “just staying with me and my skiing. I really enjoy it.”
Third World Cup victory for Straßer
For Straßer it is the third World Cup victory of his career, the second in a classic individual race. In January 2021 he won the slalom in Zagreb, also in January, but in 2017 he won the City Event in Stockholm, where a parallel race was held.
