Percy Jackson: Two more leads for the Disney+ series adaptation

After the upcoming series adaptation of the Percy Jackson series recently found its eponymous leading actor, two more leading roles have now been cast. This is how Aryan Simhadri (Spin) und Leah Sava Jeffries (Empire) joined the ensemble of the fantasy series. Simhadri will play Grover, while Jeffries will play Annabelle. Walker Scobell will play the lead role of Percy Jackson.

Percy Jackson takes place in a world in which the Greek gods still exist and have now set up their Olympus in New York. The eponymous hero one day learns that he is the son of the god Poseidon. He then travels to a camp where demigods train their skills.

Disney secured the rights a few years ago Percy Jackson and brought the film adaptation of the first volume to cinemas in 2010. Despite the fact that the film disappointed many fans of the original and was not an outstanding success at the box office, the adaptation of the second volume was subsequently undertaken. This was released in 2013, but is roughly on par with the first film in terms of box office (budget $90 million, box office $200 million) (budget $95 million, box office $226 million), so there are plans for more adaptations were discarded.

In contrast to the two cinema adaptations, book author Rick Riordan is much more involved in the series production. He will not only write the screenplay for the pilot together with Jon Steinberg, he is also on board as a producer. Accordingly, the series should also be much more oriented towards the template.
