After Walker Scobell was revealed as the new Percy Jackson some time ago, the whole project gets more rolling. More characters are stepping into the limelight and have received their new actors. And what kind of! At least the first reactions from the fan community are extremely positive, which should reassure those responsible.
The famous Percy Jackson Trio is confirmed
Exactly Percy’s best and first friends from Camp Half-Blood got new faces. Fan favorites Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood are portrayed by Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. The main gang and heroes of the first novel are promoting the new Disney+ series, production of which will soon begin in Vancouver. Creators of the Percy Jackson cosmos Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg are working on the pilot. Both are writing the scripts while James Bobin is directing. Many more of the production team have already been confirmed, including Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engstrom, Jet Wilkinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. It only appears on Disney+ because the entertainment giant acquired 20th Century Fox. That’s why 20th Century Fox is the lead studio.
Young performers on the up and with a decent CV
Walker Scobell was already considered a great choice. The young actor, who starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in ‘The Adam Project’, has quickly become the jewel of the internet. The reaction video alone, where he learned that he was allowed to play Percy while wearing a Camp Half-Blood, caused a lot of sympathy. Scobell is joined by two other incredibly talented actors in Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Leah Sava Jeffries appeared in the hugely successful and critically acclaimed drama Empire and will soon be starring opposite Idris Elba in the thriller Beast. Aryan Simhadri is no stranger to Disney+ subscribers. He was there in the new release of “The Dozen Even Cheaper” and many animated films such as Spongebob and Adventure Time. If everyone involved does it right, the series “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” might not only be a huge success for the three young actors.
