Pepe, the historic Portuguese defender, retires at 41

The player, whose name is Képler Laveran de Lima Ferreira, was born in Brazil and naturalized as a Portuguese national. He has played 894 matches in his career.

The Portuguese-Brazilian center Pepe announced this August 8 at the age of 41 the end of his career as a professional footballerwhere he played for Real Madrid, Porto and the Portuguese national team.

Pepe announced his retirement in a video shared on his social media, in which he reviews his career and the 31 trophies he has won, including the three Champions Leagues he won with Real Madrid.

The player, whose name is Képler Laveran de Lima Ferreira, born in Brazil and naturalized Portuguese, has played 894 matches in his career, the last at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Pepe spent his entire career as a central defender and shined in every shirt he played for.

His first team was Marítimo B and after making the jump to the senior team, he played for Porto, Real Madrid and Beşiktaş.

He made his debut with the Portuguese national team in 2007 and has played more than 100 games, including winning the Euro 2016 championship.

At club level, it was with Real Madrid that he experienced his greatest joys:
