The Aguilar dynasty is once again embroiled in controversy over issues related to their musical careers.
This time, it is a lawsuit that Pepe and his daughter Ángela Aguilar are facing, following the death of a musician who worked with them before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It turns out that during the pandemic, a person who worked with Pepe, a member of the team, died, so his wife, now his widow, is asking to be paid what she should have been paid for different reasons,” said Mexican presenter Pedro Sola on the show Ventaneando.
During the program, there was an interview with Arturo Yair Caridad, the lawyer of Ana Rosa Macías, the musician’s widow. Caridad stated in that interview that the lawsuit began in 2022 after the woman reported the death and the representative of the Aguilar family told her that she would be given a settlement but that she would have to sign a document in which she renounced many labor rights.
“The woman spoke directly with Pepe Aguilar, who informed her that he would pay her an amount, but it was insufficient, it was minimal, it did not even cover the benefits for the year,” said the lawyer.
In the lawsuit, Macías is requesting payment of seniority bonus, proportional part of Christmas bonus, vacations, compensation for death services and profit sharing, among others.
The lawyer goes on to say that both Pepe Aguilar and his daughter Angela were legally summoned, although they did not show up, but that in the next few days the authorities must issue a resolution in which the defendants are convicted or acquitted.
For their part, neither Pepe nor Angela have commented on the controversy, nor issued any statement.
