“Enough… Equality begins now” is the slogan of the protest that a group of people with disabilities are preparing to stage in front of the Parliament building in Rabat, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, May 7th.
Many organizations of people with disabilities called for broad involvement and intense participation in this stance, whether by those belonging to this category, or male and female advocates for its issues.
This stance comes, according to the same bodies, in protest once morest the disabled group not enjoying their full rights, and to demand combating various forms of discrimination once morest them, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other international conventions.
In a related context, the advocates of this national form of protest highlighted that their stance represents an opportunity to denounce the weak outcome of human rights gains for people with disabilities, and the weak participation in all aspects of community life.
They added that protesting in front of Parliament will also be an opportunity to make their voice expressive and effective, to contribute to the implementation of the rights of persons with disabilities, and to promote their full and effective participation.
The aforementioned bodies called on the responsible authorities and the public to work collectively to build a society that is inclusive of difference and diversity, respects the inherent dignity of people with disabilities, and is characterized by solidarity, fairness and equality.
