Colon cancer is the second leading cause of death, as it does not cause symptoms at first, so people may not realize they have it.

Below, we explain to you the first two symptoms that people ignore of colon cancer, according to the “bestlifeonline” website.

Most colon cancers start as polyps called polyps in the inner lining of the rectum and colon, says the American Cancer Society (ACS).

While the risk of developing colorectal cancer increases as a person gets older, it also increases for younger adults.

And since the 1990s, the incidence has risen dramatically among adults younger than 50, according to a National Cancer Institute (NCI) report.

The National Cancer Institute stated that this increase is rapid because the incidence rate has decreased among the elderly largely due to regular colonoscopy and lower rates of smoking.

So spotting early warning signs and getting regular checkups and colonoscopy or stool tests as early as age 45 is crucial.

On the other hand, your stomach can give you a lot of warning signals when there’s a problem. Some of these symptoms include nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, indigestion, and various types of pain.

Additionally, constipation and diarrhea can indicate a host of problems, but because they are so common, they can be easily ignored.

Since cancer affects the way the colon works, it causes diarrhea, as the colon absorbs a lot of water in the process of digestion and converts waste from liquid to stool, so when there is a disturbance in that, diarrhea occurs.

Although diarrhea is a sign of colorectal cancer, constipation may also be.

Since the colon is also a passageway for stool to leave the body, therefore, when there is a cancerous mass blocking it, the patient becomes constipated.

Symptoms and other risk factors:

Since issues such as diarrhea and constipation as well as other potential symptoms of cancer, such as bloating or indigestion, are common, it is important to know when to see a doctor.

Other risk factors for this disease include lifestyle factors such as a low-fiber, high-fat diet and conditions such as inflammatory disease, so it’s best to see your doctor for colon cancer screening if you have symptoms that worry you.
