People forced to use boats in underwater areas of Emirates – World

After the record rains in the UAE, the citizens are still facing severe difficulties. Water is still standing in many areas due to which people are facing confusion in transportation. Many people have resorted to shopping boats to buy goods for the home. This is the case with those whose vehicles are standing in water. They have to wade through up to a foot of water to reach the vehicles.

In Al-Ain and other areas, people have built self-help boats with tubs and other items to reach shops easily. There is so much water that even the footpaths are submerged so people don’t know where the road ends and the footpaths begin.

In several areas of Sharjah on Wednesday, many people were seen sitting in makeshift boats carrying floor cleaning brushes and wipers as chapos as they headed to shops for shopping. Many people built boats using wooden planks and mattresses.

It also proved difficult for people to reach the shops due to the roads submerged in rainwater. Many demanded the concerned institutions to provide temporary boats.

More than a dozen boats were spotted in an area called Al Majaz adjacent to Sharjah. Many people had to resort to these makeshift boats even to leave their locality to go to work.
