the essentials A 26-year-old Scottish woman, Siri Price, had to change her first name because of the latest iPhone update: the devices were activated every time someone called her.

Siri Price is going through an ordeal: this 26-year-old young woman, a sports coach living in Scotland, had to change her name because of Apple’s latest update, reports The Sun. Because Siri, for those who didn’t know it yet, is the name of Apple’s voice assistant, which is traditionally activated by saying the formula “Hey Siri” (“This Series”).

Until then, having the same name as the Apple brand’s voice assistant did not represent much of a problem for the young woman, who explains that her friends had gotten into the habit of not calling out to her by pronouncing the famous formula. It was “painful but manageable”, explains the Scotswoman. But since Apple’s last update, everything has changed: now, users no longer need to say “Hey” to activate Siri.

“I’m completely furious.”

“Now people can’t even pronounce my name. I’m absolutely furious. […] I’m sure Apple could have chosen something else instead. There are a lot of people called Siri and their lives have become unbearable because of it,” fumes the young woman.

To remedy this situation, Siri Price took the bull by the horns. “My colleagues had to sit down and think about an alternative because people’s phones kept ringing in the room.” So she decided to change her first name to “Siz”.

As noted The ParisianSiri’s mishap is not the first of its kind: in the United Kingdom, parents were forced to legally change the first name of their child Alexa, the same name of Amazon’s voice assistant.
