President Nicolás Maduro assured through a television broadcast that some of those arrested for the corruption scandal in embezzlement of the State oil company, PDVSA -in charge of the Ministry of Petroleum-, in addition to leading an overly ostentatious life, also met at the Country Club Caracas –an expensive area of the city–, to make “orgies”.

The Venezuelan president insisted that in the case of the detainees – which already has 19 arrests – a “denunciation” is being generated and that new details regarding the process will soon be known, and what other personalities –most of them public officials or cabinet members of the Maduro government–, are part of the network of corruption.

“They have managed to capture a part of the wealth, mansions where they held orgies (…), here and there, at the Country Club, where they had terrible orgies. All this will have to be told and when we get past this first phase (…) we will be able to show the assets”, the head of state stated.

He also said he regretted what is happening, facts that have him quite “outraged.” He also took advantage of the broadcast to say that this happened in the midst of the United States sanctions, which seriously affected the economy of Venezuela.

It should be remembered that the The Public Ministry had already spoken on previous occasions that there was a prostitution network, which was headed by Hugbel Roa, a former deputy of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.

“This blow that we have given is just the first of many that we are going to give once morest the entrenched gangs of mafiosi wherever they are. We are not going to stop,” Maduro said during the broadcast.

It is worth noting that officials detained for corruption within the state-owned company PDVSA in Venezuela are being specifically indicated for the crimes of appropriation or distraction of public property, boasting or use of relationships or influences, among others, as explained by Attorney General Tarek William Saab.

Among the detainees are several collaborators of the former Minister of Petroleum Tareck El Aissami -who resigned from his position-, among them the Vice President of Commerce and Supply of PDVSA Antonio José Pérez Suárez, the head of the Superintendence of Cryptoactives Joselit Ramírez, in addition to the former deputy Hugbel Roa, one of the creators of the Venezuelan Petro cryptocurrency.
