Pentagon: 20 countries announced new military assistance to Ukraine

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that twenty states decided to send additional military assistance to Kyiv.

Some 20 countries have announced new security assistance, he said. Much-needed artillery ammunition, tanks and other armored vehicles are being handed over, he said during a press conference following the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine.

Austin noted that other countries also assumed new obligations to train the Ukrainian military.

The Minister of Defense specifically thanked the Czech Republic for the recent transfer of fire support helicopters, missile systems and tanks to Ukraine. And Denmark – for the decision to send the Harpoon anti-ship missile launcher.

The head of the US military department welcomed the contribution of other countries: Italy, Norway, Greece and Poland. They helped in supplying Ukraine with artillery. Austin also noted the UK’s role in coordinating military assistance.
