This was one of the most sensitive issues of pension reform this winter, one of those which largely contributed to strengthening protest in the streets and strikes. The end of the main special regimes was recorded this Sunday with the publication of the decrees this Sunday in the “Official Journal”, allowing them to be closed on September 1, as planned. This concerns the RATP, the electricity and gas industries, the Banque de France as well as notary clerks.

Their particular diets are not going away just yet. As was the case for rail, the “grandfather clause” will apply. This means that the reform will not only concern new hires. Like private sector employees, they will be covered by the general social security scheme and the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension schemes. This is already the case for railway workers since the overhaul of the SNCF statute in 2020.
