By an additional vote, the bloc made up of Fuerza Popular, Renovación Popular, Alianza Para el Progreso and Avanza País prevailed once morest the requests of Perú Libre, which to date is the bench that has presented the most bills in search of a seventh AFP withdrawal. The president of the Congressional Economy Commission reported that his working group will see the proposals for a new withdrawal of AFP funds up to 4UIT. | Channel N

“We have no problem with it being four [UIT]. The MEF said that we are coming out of the recession. We might give the withdrawal and it will be put to the consideration of colleagues. If approved, it would be requested that it be prioritized on the Plenary agenda. “We are adjusting the text so that it has the greatest possible consensus,” he told Semana Económica.

“The (pension) reform comes with a complementary provision that is the retirement (AFP) and we are evaluating opening it up to 4 UIT, if it is necessary for everyone, because as the Minister of Economy (Alex Contreras) has stated, we are entering a recovery of the economy,” he previously told the press.

Let us remember that the prediction of the comprehensive reform of the pension system in Peru proposes a structure of four pillars: non-contributory, semi-contributory, contributory and solidarity.

In statements to Gestión, the new Minister of Economy José Arista maintained that the country has lost the solidity it previously had in the Pension Fund Administrators, since the coronavirus pandemic, where in a bitter context, the population required liquidity.

“I don’t know if there are any funds left for more withdrawals, so much has been withdrawn that I don’t know if there are any balances left. Covid-19 hit us, we had to defend ourselves somehow. But, we have to stop our hand, we are reaching a stage of growth, I think our current GDP is well above post-covid,” he said.
