Italy is a right-wing country. Italo Bocchino, as a journalist and intellectual of the area, wrote a book (“Why Italy is right-wing”, Edizioni Solferino) which tries to give truth to his statement, explaining how the very concept of the right needs to be revised, broadening it the borders, right now that the right is in government with its leader Giorgia Meloni. “The book brings together the numbers, the documents, which demonstrate that the journalistic and judicial left want to tell a different Italy”, said the author during the presentation of the volume at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. Also present was the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, who suggested to the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara that the work be included in the school programmes: “Dear Minister of Education, I would like this book to be distributed and adopted in schools”, he stated from the stage, “but it is written that it is against the lies of the left. But it would be a drop of water against the lies that the left tells to children at school!”. According to La Russa, in fact, that by Bocchino “it is not a book of opinion, it is above all a book of data and numbers, a manual, I would say of civil defence”. It’s a real story and so yes, it should be read carefully,” he added.
