PHILADELPHIA – As the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team gears up to defend its impressive third consecutive title in both the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) regular season and the tournament championships, they made a significant announcement on Tuesday regarding their 2025 schedule. The Quakers are set to kick off their season on Sunday, January 5, with a series of thrilling competitions lined up.
The season will commence with an intriguing road tri-meet against in-state rival Penn State, alongside the University of New Hampshire. Building on this, the following weekend will see the Quakers travel to New Brunswick, N.J., to compete in a quad meet featuring Rutgers, Towson, and West Chester on Saturday, January 11.
The first home event is particularly noteworthy as it coincides with Penn’s Senior Meet, scheduled for Friday, January 17. This quad meet will include formidable competitors Towson, Yale, and Ursinus, providing a perfect opportunity for the seniors to showcase their talents in front of the home crowd.
In the latter part of January, Penn will make its way to George Washington for the Lindsay Ferris Invite, where they will face off against Yale and Fisk University. This will be a crucial opportunity for the Quakers to fine-tune their performances.
The first dual meet of the season is set for Sunday, February 2, as Penn heads to Cornell. The following weekend, on February 8, the Quakers will return to Philadelphia for a short-range visit to North Broad where they will challenge Temple. Shortly thereafter, they will venture to New Haven, Conn., on February 15 for another dual meet against Southern Connecticut State University as part of the GEC.
Following the matchup with SCSU, the coveted Ivy Classic will take place on Sunday, February 23, hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., promising to be a highlight of the gymnastics season.
The schedule continues with three consecutive away meets: first against UNC on Friday, February 28, followed by encounters with Towson on Tuesday, March 4, and William & Mary on Saturday, March 8. After this challenging stretch, the Quakers will return to The Palestra on Friday, March 14, to compete against West Virginia, in what promises to be an exciting homecoming.
Culminating the season, the Red and Blue will strive to defend their championship title on Saturday, March 22, when they host the GEC Championship at the historic Palestra.
Having achieved a remarkable treble last year by winning the Ivy Classic, GEC regular season, and GEC Championships, the Quakers are eager to build on their success. The team will feature a strong roster, including five first-team and three second-team All-GEC selections from the previous season, notably the GEC Gymnast of the Year, junior Skyelar Kerico, adding to the anticipation of a thrilling season ahead.
