PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo continues the Pelindo Mengajar 2024 program which is implemented in 64 schools throughout Indonesia. Pelindo Mengajar, which is part of the social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program, is designed to introduce the port and logistics industry to high school students.
“We believe that education is not only about academic teaching, but also about how we instill the values of environmental and social responsibility in students,” said Pelindo President Director, Arif Suhartono in Jakarta, Thursday (5/9/2024).
According to him, the involvement of Pelindo’s board of directors and commissioners in this program shows the company’s commitment to supporting the world of education. This also shows that Pelindo contributes to the development of human resources, both for teachers and students.
Today, Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono had the opportunity to share insights on the maritime industry and port operations with teachers at the Barunawati Nusantara Foundation, Jakarta. On that occasion, Arif Suhartono emphasized the importance of character development in education, by instilling values such as integrity, responsibility, cooperation, and resilience.
In addition, he also encouraged the use of technology in education. As part of this initiative, Pelindo provides support in the form of digital-based educational support tools.
“This step aims to encourage digitalization in schools, so that the teaching and learning process can take place more effectively and in line with the times,” said Arif.

Group Head of Pelindo Corporate Secretariat, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki added, the Pelindo Mengajar program is not only designed to introduce the maritime industry to students, but also to raise their enthusiasm for learning so that they are ready to become future leaders with integrity.
In implementing this program, Pelindo also introduced ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) aspects, especially in the environmental aspect, through the plastic waste recycling initiative. The recycled products, in the form of pouches from plastic bottles, were given to students who participated in the Pelindo Mengajar Program.
“We hope that students and teachers can understand how the port industry contributes to sustainable development,” he said.
The Pelindo Mengajar 2024 program reaches more than 150 students in each school. Overall, this program involves 64 teachers consisting of the Directors and Commissioners of the Pelindo Group, starting from the Pelindo Head Office, Regional Office leaders, Subholding Directors, to Pelindo’s subsidiaries.
The program provides direct benefits to more than 300 teachers and around 9,500 students across Indonesia. “We believe that good education must include a holistic understanding of social and environmental responsibility,” said Ardhy. (Z-8)
