The family of Brazilian soccer legend Pele has gathered at the Albert Einstein Hospital, where the former distinguished star has been treated since late November.
Doctors said last week that Pele, 82, had developed cancer that required care for kidney and heart failure.
The family said Pele would remain in hospital in Sao Paulo through Christmas.
Pele has received regular medical care since the removal of a polyp in his colon in September last year.

And Edinho, the son of Pele, who played as a goalkeeper for the Brazilian team Santos in the nineties of the last century, published a picture of him while holding his father’s hand on Saturday, with the words “Father…my strength is your strength.”
