Pegi Setiawan’s attorney, Yanti, is not worried if the West Java Regional Police (Jabar) opens a new investigation warrant (sprindik) in the murder case of the couple Vina Dewi Arsita and Muhammad Rizky alias Eki. Because, Pegi is not the perpetrator.

“I am sure that Pegi is not the perpetrator, if for example the police find new evidence for the real perpetrator, that might happen, as for Pegi Setiawan, I am sure that any evidence that points to Vina and Eky is because Pegi Setiawan is not the perpetrator,” said Yanti in Metro TV’s Most Controversial Podcast quoted on Thursday (11/7).

Yanti said that Pegi did not know the two victims or the convicts in the murder case that occurred in 2016.

“Pegi Setiawan did not know them (the victims) and did not know the people who were involved in this incident. Including Aep (the witness) did not know either,” said Yanti.

Several observers believe that the West Java Regional Police might open a new sprindik if they find new evidence in the Pegi case. However, investigators are asked not to rush.

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) suggested that the West Java Regional Police conduct an evaluation first if they have plans to create a new sprindik. Then, ask for the opinion of criminal law experts in analyzing and evaluating.

“Well, regarding the plan. If it has been analyzed and evaluated, what will be done. As I said earlier, ask for the opinion of a renowned criminal law expert who we have previously recommended has experience in winning pretrial motions,” said Kompolnas Commissioner Yusuf Warsyim when confirmed, Tuesday (9/7).
