It’s not just the Americans who are able to organize beautiful ceremonies rewarding the best video game productions of the year. A tribute to French video games
This 3rd Pegasus ceremony was therefore held at La Cigale last night, welcoming 800 people, including many influential players in French video games. For those who are foreign to the Pegasus, this is a ceremony launched by the Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo in 2020 (inspired by the Césars) in order to designate the best French creations. An event that makes sense when you look at the cradle of talent that is France in terms of video games.
No less than 19 trophies are put into play each year and it is the 1500 members of the Academy who are invited to vote through two rounds to designate the nominees. It is the studios themselves who submit their games to have them participate in the Pegasus and potentially win one or more prizes. This year, 85 games were in contention in 19 categories, a choice reduced to 3 games per category at the end of the 1st round. Among these prizes, we find in particular that of the best video game, the best sound universe, the best game design or the best accessibility.
Deathloop and Road 96 take the lead
With FPS Deathloopdeveloped by Arkane Studios from Lyon, left no one indifferent since it won five prizes, including the public prize, the prize for the best game design and finally the prize for the best game. A real consecration for Dinga Bakaba takes the post of director within Arkane Lyon, named personality of the year, as well as for his teams. They had already received critical acclaim during the Game Awards 2021 by receiving the prize for best director and this new success on the French scene only confirms this.
The other big winners of this 3rd edition of the Pégases are from Montpellier since they are the independent team of DigixArt, the team behind the nugget Road 96. Their narrative adventure game released last summer on PC and Switch and coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 next April 15 offers a refreshing formula that we invite you to discover. We must believe that we are not the only ones to have appreciated Road 96 since the game has won no less than 5 awards including that of the best independent game as well as narrative excellence, just that.
With an improved presentation, new guests and well-regarded happenings, this 3rd Pegasus ceremony is an overall success that highlights the quality of French video game productions in the eyes of the general French public, who are often little or badly informed regarding what domain. We hope that the formula will continue to improve and do honor to French video games and there is no reason for this dynamic to stop.
