“As our Political Constitution indicates, the Presidency of the Republic has the highest position in the State, it is Head of State, and Head of Government, it not only represents, but also personifies the Nation. Our country has adopted a presidential system of government, for this reason the president is elected by popular vote, he has the highest hierarchy in the service to the nation as indicated in article 110 of the Constitution”, specifies the official letter from the Government Palace.

Camacho also affirms that President Castillo “has acted with total transparency throughout his career, which is why he has made himself available to justice” and maintains that “he has never participated in any irregular act and is willing to clarify any doubt”.

In dialogue with El Comercio, the legislator Héctor Ventura (Popular Force), indicated that he “regrets” that the president “does not want to answer the questions spontaneously.”

“The people, as he always refers to, that he define or clarify these alleged acts of corruption. He resorts to article 117 and we can resort to article 97 of the Constitution. There are conflicting positions legally. However, it would be a healthy political gesture for the country for him to respond to these questions,” he added.

The parliamentarian added that “the president can make use of his right to remain silent.” Ventura assured that on Tuesday, following the working group session, the invitation to the head of state to attend the commission “in person” would be reiterated – by official letter.

To what was said by the businesswoman in her statement before the prosecution is added what was narrated by her lawyer, César Nakazaki, regarding a discussion between the president and Bruno Pacheco that his client witnessed. Lawyers commented on what consequences this might bring to the president.

Previously, Ventura had said that they were willing to attend to any rescheduling request.
