Pedro Castillo announces that he “temporarily dissolves” Congress for an emergency government | RMMN | PERU

In a message to the Nation from the Government Palace, the President of the Republic, arranged to temporarily dissolve Congress and establish an exceptional emergency government, at the time the debate on his third vacancy motion began.

“In response to the citizen claim throughout the country, we made the decision to establish an emergency government aimed at restoring the rule of law and democracy,” the president announced.

The measures taken by the Executive and announced include “temporarily dissolving the Congress of the Republic and establishing an exceptional emergency government.”

Elections for a new Congress “with constituent powers” will also be called as soon as possible to prepare a new Constitution within a period not exceeding nine months from the date.

Until this new Legislative Power is installed, Pedro Castillo assured that it will be governed by decree law.
