Pedometer++, a historic application for counting your steps using your iPhone, takes on a new dimension. With the version 5.3 which has just been released, the app can be used as a hiking guide.
In addition to the import of GPX files (recorded routes) which was already possible, Pedometer++ now allows you to trace by hand the paths you want to take in familiar areas. To do this, simply place points on the map and, using the Mapbox API, the application is responsible for connecting them by following the available paths. The distance, walking time and elevation gain are calculated automatically. This creation of personalized routes can be done on iPhone as well as on Apple Watch.
Since there is no internet connection in the Morvan forest, Pedometer++ also allows you to download maps before going hiking. We select square by square the areas which must be put aside just in case.
These functions for walkers depend on the Pedometer++ Premium subscription at €1.99/month or €22.99/year (a seven-day free trial is available). If you just want to know how many steps you took during the day, it’s always free. The application has also received a brushstroke on iPhone and Apple Watch to appear lighter and more intuitive.
