Mavelikkara: Pedestrian Vyodhika died following being hit by a private bus that failed to signal at Mavelikkara Mitchell Junction. The accident took place at Mavelikkara Mitchell Junction on Wednesday at half past noon. Rachel Jacob (Rajamma-82), Chennithala Thripperunthura Thekkoot died. The accident was caused by a private bus called Swami on the Thiruvalla-Kayamkulam route.
Rachel was walking to the bus stand to go home following arriving at the shrine south of Mavelikkara Mitchell Junction. While crossing the road in front of the bus that was waiting for the signal at the junction, it fell under the bus that was moving ahead before the green signal fell. The front wheel of the bus ran over Rachel’s leg and the rear wheel over her head, killing her instantly. The driver, Anoop Anian (30), who ran away from the bus, later surrendered at the police station at Puliyar Alappall West.
