Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Train in Namur Tragedy

A person walking along the railway tracks was struck by a train heading from Gembloux to Namur. The NAGE firefighters, led by Captain Olivier Gilson, arrived with a fire engine, ambulance, and SMUR from the CHR of Namur. Unfortunately, the victim had already passed away when help arrived. The Namur police and railway police, along with a Sécurail team, also responded to the incident. The Namur public prosecutor’s office was informed, but the cause of the accident is still unknown.

A pedestrian who was along the rails was hit by a train traveling from Gembloux to Namur. The firefighters of the NAGE area under the orders of Captain Olivier Gilson went to the scene with a pumper, an ambulance and the SMUR of the CHR of Namur. When the rescuers arrived, there was nothing more to do for the victim, who had been killed instantly. Police officers from Namur as well as those from the railway police and a team from Sécurail went to the scene of the tragedy. The Namur public prosecutor’s office was alerted to the facts. Currently, the causes of the accident have not yet been established.
