Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Train in Namur Results in Tragedy

A person walking by the railway tracks was hit by a train heading towards Namur from Gembloux. Captain Olivier Gilson directed the firefighters in the NAGE region, who arrived at the site with an ambulance, a pumper, and SMUR from the CHR in Namur. Unfortunately, the victim had died on the spot, and there was no further assistance that might be provided. The Namur police, railway police, and Sécurail were all present at the tragic location. The Namur prosecutor’s office was notified of the incident, and the precise cause of the accident is not yet known.

A pedestrian who was along the rails was hit by a train traveling from Gembloux to Namur. The firefighters of the NAGE area under the orders of Captain Olivier Gilson went to the scene with a pumper, an ambulance and the SMUR of the CHR of Namur. When the rescuers arrived, there was nothing more to do for the victim, who had been killed instantly. Police officers from Namur as well as those from the railway police and a team from Sécurail went to the scene of the tragedy. The Namur public prosecutor’s office was alerted to the facts.
